FCX player, Jenna Sczcesny was named Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year for the second year in a row!
Coach Stuart Peek said this of Jenna, "There are many things you can say about a player with the abilities of Jenna. The obvious being her athletic ability, goal scoring capabilities and so on. What
most people will not know, is her amazing humbleness, and her desire to
improve. Watching Jenna from 9 years old to now is amazing. The last
two years I coached her, we talked about making her not just an athlete,
but a soccer player, we discussed what in my opinion that meant as far
as her game, and with eagerness and total work, Jenna took on the task
and achieved it.
She took on board all coaching/suggestions,
and implemented them in to her game, several facets, not just speed and
power. Her movement, striking the ball with both feet, heading
technique, foot skills sharpened up, off the ball movement. general game
awareness, all have been refined and improved on. This is what makes
Jenna a force to deal with on the field, there are many strong, quick
players, but she has differentiated herself from that for sure. And
whilst doing so, with a smile on her face, and enjoying every minute.
You
will never hear Jenna talk about herself, you will never hear Jenna put
a team mate down, and as far as respect, she always listens to
instruction and tries to implement suggestions from coaches with a focus
that is second to none. A rare commodity in young players, and traits
that others should look to and strive for. To say she is a joy to be around and coach is an understatement.
Too
many times you hear the words, "next level player" but I can honestly
say Jenna is all that and more. I have been absolutely proud of her and
the way she has evolved, from a shy 9 year old, to a top level soccer
player, ready for Division One soccer. I know there will be more to
come, she will keep improving, she never settles for what she can do,
but pushes for what she can potentially do.
As
a coach having coached 1000s of players, you rarely come across someone
with all the characteristics Jenna has, and all positive, I am proud of
her beyond words, and look forward to her continued success."
Congratulations to Jenna for all that she has accomplished on and off of the field!
