JBS U16 Girls Breakers - GA State Champions

After winning the District round May 12 &13 in Conyers, the Breakers moved onto the final game to play for the State Championship in Fayetteville May 19. The Breakers played a superbly competitive game versus the Coweta Canons. Then on a loose ball that was dropped by the Canon's goalie, a headup play from Reagan Lochmandy, a Breaker midfielder, gave the Breakers the first score of the game, making it 1-0 going into half time. As the second half got underway, the Canons got a lucky goal on a corner kick that bounced off the Breaker's goalie into the back of our net to tie the game 1-1.

The game went into 10 minutes of overtime and was decided in a PK shootout, one of soccer's most nailbiting and exciting ways to determine a game. The Breakers' Elizabeth Waid, Renee Rindik, Brittany Collins, Christa Davoll, and Colette Collins were chosen to bring home the win for the Breakers, but it was ultimately, the Breakers' goalie, Lauren Watts who denied the Canons two of their PKs that won the game for the Breakers, giving them their 2nd State Championship title. Coach Collins Breakers are also the 2006 State Champions, 2007, 2009, 2011 Kohl's Cup Champions, 2009 State Runners Up, 2010 NASA, 2011 Kennesaw, and 2011 UFA Champions. Let's wish them luck as they defend their title this spring in the 2013 State Cup!
