JASA Uniforms

JASA announces NEW Adidas Uniforms beginning the Fall 2006 season for Recreational and Challenge players. The new uniforms are the first change in our Rec uniforms in over 30 years and the modern style and material used reflects the change in soccer clothing that has occurred over the years. Both our Recreation and Challenge teams will be using the same uniform; the only difference being the Rec teams will use a red jersey, black shorts and red socks, the Challenge teams will use an all red uniform, shirt, shorts and socks. The Challenge teams will also have an alternative white jersey. The numbers on the jerseys are 6" for Rec and 8" for Challenge.

For 2007-08 ORDER FORMS, Click HERE

Adidas and Eurosport have given JASA a special price on the uniforms and we are told they are in stock. We will have a special order form that each team will complete and send with one check or individual checks as long as they go together in the same order. The initial orders should not come from individual players but be team orders. Our account representative at Eurosport is Kelly Berrall and her number is 1.800.967.8326 extension 2185. The teams must use the JASA account / customer ID# for JASA to get credit (Team managers will have this info). All checks are to be made out to Eurosport.

There will sample uniforms at the registration for children to try on. There may be some differences between what we used to call a youth medium or adult small and the sizing used by Adidas. The new uniform will be for all JASA Rec and Challenge teams U7 thru U18. Our U5 and U6 program will continue to use a t-shirt and shorts that will be furnished by the Sport Shack in Hubert.

SPARK for Ages U5 & U6
The SPARK (Soccer Principles & Ready Kids) Program was first introduced in the Fall of 1996 with the formation of 16 JASA teams. This program is a subdivision of the overall Recreation Program and is designed to teach players, parents and coaches the game of soccer in an environment of fun, sportsmanship and teamwork. The SPARK Program provides a micro soccer program for U5 (players under five years old) and U6 (players under six years old). Both divisions are coed.

Program Goals:

  • To create a recreational soccer program that will develop the basic skills of our youngest players in an environment of fun, competition, and sportsmanship.
  • To develop a player's basic soccer skills of dribbling, passing, shooting and collecting.
  • To provide game situation opportunities that allow each player significantly more "touches" on the soccer ball than large sided games.
  • To foster a love affair with the game of soccer by increasing active athletic participation.
  • To develop sportsmanship, teamwork and responsibility in an atmosphere of fun.
  • To increase parent understanding of soccer rules and game play.
  • To identify and mentor prospective leaders and coaches by increasing parent involvement.

SPARK (Soccer Principles and Ready Kids) is a program that offers the following advantages:

  • For U5 and U6 children:
    • Smaller size ball (#3), field and shorter game times to suit the size and age of players.
    • Fewer number of players on the field at a time which helps prevent bunching-up. This keeps the ball in the open more and gives players more opportunities to use both ball control and judgment skills.
    • Lessor skilled players get more help at practice and games since there are fewer players for the coach to teach soccer skills, teamwork, plays and also keep under control.
  • For Parents & Coaches:
    • Fewer children to work with at practices and games, therefore the coach can become much more familiar with each player.
    • Easier to substitute players and provide each player more playing time.
    • Coaches get to help all players on all teams become better players, therefore helping take away the winning at all cost attitude.
    • Simple game to understand.
    • Encourages everyone to cheer for all teams and good play, therefore promoting better sportsmanship.
  • For JASA:
    • Smaller numbers of players on each team, therefore entices more parents to coach.
    • Costs for goals, marking fields and referees is lower.
    • SPARK rules emphasize sportsmanship which helps make the game more enjoyable for everyone, especially for the players.

CAMSL for Ages U7 & U8

RECREATION for Ages U9 thru U18

Recreational soccer is a fun and participation league designed for learning and enjoyment of playing the game. The majority of players in JASA are in recreational soccer. Team standings are kept and JASA teams play other teams within the Eastern Carolina Soccer Association (ECSA). Players in recreational soccer are guaranteed participation in two quarters or one half of each game if they participate constructively in at least one practice per week unless the coach notifies and gives reasonable justification to the player, his/her parents or guardian, and the opposing coach prior to the game. There are separate boys and girls divisions for players from U9 - U16.

CHALLENGE for Ages U10 thru U14+

Challenge is a program designed for those players who desire a more competitive brand of soccer than Recreation, but without the amount of travel that Classic requires. Players must participate in a pre-season try out and be selected for a team. Team standings are kept and JASA teams play other teams within the Eastern Carolina Soccer Association (ECSA) or within a 50 mile radius of the JASA "home field." There are separate boys and girls divisions for players from U10 - U14.

CLASSIC for Ages U11 thru U18

The NCYSA Classic League, first introduced in the Spring of 1979, is a statewide league under the direction of the Executive Board (EX-BOD) positions of Vice President Men's Classic and Vice President Women's Classic. As such scheduling of Classic Soccer Games is handled by NCYSA. Players wishing to play at the most competitive level possible for extended periods of time (usually 8-10 months) play Classic Soccer. Players belonging to an NCYSA affiliated association may tryout for the team of their choice. That team, which must be affiliated with a local association, then registers with NCYSA.

WINTER INDOOR PROGRAM

Indoor soccer is organized by the Eastern Carolina Soccer Association (ECSA) and is usually scheduled to take place in December and January. Teams play two (2) games (usually Saturdays) for four (4) weeks. A tournament is held at the end of the season.
Eligibility for JASA player's will be any player who participated in the recently concluded Fall season.
Teams and Age Groups:

  • U9 to U19 both boys and girls leagues for Recreation
  • U10 to U14 both boys and girls leagues for Challenge
  • For an age group to form there must be at least four (4) teams from all of ECSA.
  • If you are a Challenge team and you do not have at least four (4) teams in your specific age group, your team may still play, but will have to age-up a level in the Recreation League.
  • Classic teams may participate in the Challenge league where age groups are formed or play up an age level if a challenge age group cannot form.
  • Players who played up an age group in the fall ECSA soccer season may not play down at their regular age bracket.
  • If you ask more than one Challenge or Classic player to participate on your Recreation team you must play in the Challenge League.

The team size limit for all age groups will be 10 players. Your team may have a maximum of 2 guest players. The games will consist of 6 players a side; five field players and one Keeper

Uniforms will be Red JASA Shirt, Black Shorts, Shin Guards, Red Socks, Indoor Soccer Shoes or Tennis Shoes.
Game sites will be determined at the beginning of each season and depend on availability of local facilities and the number of teams. In the past sites at Swansboro Middle School, New Bridge Middle School and White Oak High School have been used.
