Youth Academy
The Jacksonville Area Soccer Association is pleased to offer the JASA U9 & U10 Youth Academy. The U9 & U10 Academy will be Available to all youth soccer players in both the U9 and U10 age groups that may be looking for an alternative to Recreation or Challenge Soccer. Youth Academy players will train twice a week with games on weekends. Training days will consist of pool training on one day and match day team training on the second day. Training day curriculum's are subject to change based on the days attendance of players. Match days will consist of 2 games or more per day for each player and will be played at our home fields at Woodlands Park as well as away games with other Youth Academy participants. Play date weekends will be called festivals and usually consist of 2 or more Youth Academy clubs coming together and playing matches with the intent of all players being exposed to different groups of different abilities. At JASA, our match day teams will be selected based on our scheduled opponent, strengths or weaknesses, or based solely on age group. This will allow us to ensure that an appropriately competitive match is scheduled.

The Youth Academy program is also designed to remove the results oriented, "win at all cost" mentality associated with youth soccer. The Academy games and festivals will be played without published or recorded scoring and equal playing time is guaranteed for all participants who attend training on a regular basis and maintain a good attitude. The program will serve as an instructional program for players ages U9-U10 who are seeking a more structured environment than recreational or challenge soccer, but may not be ready for the competition, travel and cost of associated with Classic Soccer. The JASA Youth Academy will consist of player pools in 3-4 different training groups depending on the number of participants and the skill level or age of those participants. These player pools and/or training groups will be divided into teams for play during each game day or festival weekend. Academy pool teams have the liberty of adjusting their rosters as needed at each match to ensure the proper level of competition is achieved. The player pools will be trained and coached by a staff of nationally and regionally licensed coaches. The JASA Coastal Surge Youth Academy mission will be to develop the heart, mind and body of our young athletes by developing their skills and knowledge with a dedicated and supportive staff that model what they teach. The Youth Academy staff will teach the young players how to succeed in soccer as well as the game of life. Last Updated (Friday, 11 May 2012 13:39) |
