JACKSONVILLE, NC – As the Jacksonville Area Soccer Association (JASA) Surge and the ECNL Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC move forward with their groundbreaking partnership, our local Jacksonville community couldn't be more thrilled. The promising collaboration, built upon soccer programming and solid relationships, offers not only an opportunity for player development but a chance for our community to be part of the national soccer conversation.

Our city has always boasted a rich and diverse soccer culture, and this partnership reaffirms our place on the map. A slow and thoughtful approach to forming this alliance shows the genuine intent behind it - focusing on the game, its players, and its supporters rather than administrative logistics or financial prospects.

As our community prepares to host the season-opening games for the girls ECNL National Program against NCFC Courage this weekend, we proudly acknowledge that 21 of our Jacksonville players will be participating. This isn't just a testament to the talent here but a beautiful alliance of two soccer-loving communities. The fact that four of our Jacksonville seniors on the U19 team have recently committed to NCAA Division I college programs further underscores the talent and potential in our city.

The launch of the Carolina Developmental League (CDL) partnership, especially at the U11 and U12 boys age groups, in Wilmington is another leap forward. By sharing the two-team CDL membership with the Hammerheads, JASA gets a platform to showcase the burgeoning talent at these age groups. Competing against renowned clubs like NCFC, Charlotte Soccer Academy, NC Fusion, and Charlotte Independence, our boys will undoubtedly grow and shine.

While the youth soccer scene might seem perplexing to some, what's clear is our commitment and shared vision with the ECNL Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC. We understand that challenges, mistakes, and even losses are all part of the journey. Each setback provides a learning opportunity and a chance to bounce back stronger.

Having the Jacksonville community be part of this elite soccer framework is both an honor and a responsibility. We share the Hammerheads' belief in playing the 'long game' for player development. The journey has just begun, and the future looks immensely promising.
