Notice of Special Members Only Meeting

Location:  JASA Soccer fields at Woodlands Park

Date:  Monday March 4, 2024

Time:  6:30 pm to 7:30 pm

The President and JASA's Board of Directors have  scheduled a special meeting of the membership seeking a recommendation for or against the President and Board of Directors negotiating, finalizing, and executing an agreement between JASA and the Wilmington Hammerheads.  Under the proposed arrangement, the Wilmington Hammerheads would provide important support and assistance in running JASA’s competitive programs – Academy and Classic Teams.  JASA’s Board has engaged in extensive analysis of the proposed arrangement, which has been  informed by feedback from and discussions with members gathered through, among other things, various town halls.  Based on this analysis as well as information and opinions garnered from members, JASA’s Board strongly believes that involving the Wilmington Hammerheads as proposed is in the best interests of kids and thus the club.  The President and Board of Directors now seek a recommendation on this action from the members.      

All current voting members of JASA are encouraged to attend, including parents or legal guardians of duly registered players, and registered team coaches, assistant coaches, and managers.  The Board will accept and review one ballot per household with respect to parents or legal guardians of duly registered players.  The Board will take into consideration the vote tally and any comments received (now and previously) as it finalizes its analysis and takes final action regarding the proposed arrangement with the Wilmington Hammerheads.

Additional materials and information will be forthcoming next week that we ask you also review in advance of the noticed meeting.      

Lastly, while this opportunity has already been heavily discussed amongst the membership, the President and Board realize that you still might have questions and want to make sure they are answered for you  before you vote.  If you have questions, please email them to [email protected] and the appropriate person will answer your question by email or phone call.   In addition, our Director of Coaching also plans to make himself available in-person at the JASA Soccer fields prior to the start of the meeting (from approximately 5:30-6:30pm) to answer any final questions you may for him about this potential arrangement.
